Wireless internet in the USZ Klebelsberg Library

We've working together with eduroam as part of an international cooperation to be able to provide access to wireless internet. This is not a simple, open network as if you were in a café, servicing 20 odd people, but a considerably more secure and more complex solution.

So, if you are a University of Szeged student or staff member, not only will you have access to eduroam in all the buildings where this network is available, but also, when you travel to other universities, who are also part of the eduroam community, you'll be able to connect with your Szeged identification. And, of course, it works the other way around, too.

This is how you can connect with a laptop, a windowsphone, an iPhone or an iPad: having registered in the Library, you'll have a Library card (Erasmus-card, staff card, student card, paper library card) with a number: that number and @bibl.u-szeged.hu will be your login (e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) and your birthday will be your password (pl. 01-OCT-97). If you have an android phone or tablet, you'll need to set one thing apart from entering your login and password exactly like above: phase 2 authentication should be set to the longest abbreviation. If you use Linux, see here.

Some technical details:

We managed to improve our antennae so the signal strength and security increased as well.

There is only a limited number of IP address in the world, and even though there is a new plan to manage them has been devised (IPv6), many devices cannot handle it (most of Android devices). So we are currently working on doubling the number of available IP addresses to make sure that our patrons can have access to wifi internet.

Troubleshooting:

  • wait a little and connect again, an IP address might free up

  • come to the information desk on the ground floor, and we'll be happy help you

  • check your library membership - are you re-registered for the new semester? Do you have overdue books?

  • if you use a student card, it, unfortunately, features two numbers, you need the one in the righthand side upper corner.

  • did you remember to type @bibl.u-szeged.hu after your card number?

  • you have the right to change your password and then your birthday will obviously not work. Please visit the circulation desk where they can reset your default password.

  • did you remember to type the dashes in the password?
